If you are a mining
exploration company
or a contractor who
needs to travel to a
remote area not
accessible by road,
rail or fixed wing
aircraft, helicopter
charter flights may
be your most
convenient and
practical option.
Before requesting a
charter quote
however, there are
few things that you
should know ahead of
time, so you can
receive the most
accurate and
complete charter
quote:
Your departure point
and ferry time
costs. In many
cases, there may not
be a helicopter
based at the point
that you need to
depart from.
In this case, the
Helicopter will need
to ferry in from
home base. You
will need to pay for
ferry flights
including return
ferry flight to
base.
Fuel Cache.
Depending on the
Ferry distance and
the amount of flight
work that you have
for the helicopter,
you may need to pay
for the cost of
getting helicopter
fuel to a staging
area. The
amount of fuel will
be based on the
number of hours of
flying anticipated.
Cargo and Slinging.
You will need to
provide the charter
company with
information on all
cargo, including
size and weight,
that will be
transported by
helicopter.
This will determine
if slinging is
required and the
size and
capabilities of the
helicopter needed
for the job.
Number of flying
hours and duration
of contract.
You will need to
provide the
helicopter charter
company with as much
information on
distances, daily
flight requirements
and the total
duration of the job.
Most helicopter
companies charge a
minimum daily rate
when you contract
for a helicopter
away from base.
So even on days when
there is no flying -
you may be paying a
minimum daily rate. |
